Nurturing Communication, Cultivating Life Skills

Welcome to Chatterbox Speech Therapy, we're glad you're here!

As a small and locally owned speech therapy practice, we take the time to build relationships with every family we serve. Our passion for maximizing independence through a Life Skills lens makes our practice unique! Offering exceptional services in an environment that naturally bolsters skill retention and generalization, we meet our clients in their home, school, daycare, or out in the community. Children make the greatest progress when their parents, siblings, and caregivers are involved in the therapy process, so you are always welcome to join in on the fun!

Life Skills - Executive Function

A range of abilities that help individuals of all ages, navigate daily challenges and prepare for adulthood. Broadly, these skill areas include communication, decision-making, problem-solving, time management, self-awareness, resilience, interpersonal skills, financial literacy, and self-care. Chatterbox Speech Therapy can support the development of these critical life skills through fun, functional, actionable experiences.

Supporting the Transition Plan

The Transition Plan within the IEP helps guide your child’s future from childhood into adulthood. It is the plan for reaching their adult goals. In Virginia, under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), students with disabilities must have a Transition Plan by age 14.

Building the Life and Executive Function skills necessary for a successful transition from school to 'adulting' begins in toddlerhood!

Let us help fostering those critical skills for a bright and satisfying future where each individual can contribute meaningfully to their community.
